Here is Anton Chekhov (center) at the first reading of The Seagull to the cast at The Moscow Art Theatre












The actress who played Nina in the First Production of The Seagull at the Aleaxandrinski Theatre on October 17 1896 in St. Petersbug. This first production was entirely unsuccessful, and it wasn't until the newly- founded Moscow Arts Theatre relaunched the production in October 1898 that it received acclaim.
